TUV and UL Certifications for US and Canada

You can rest assured that using your spa is safe. All Bullfrog Spas have been tested using the most stringent standards following the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and International Electrical Commission (IEC) specifications through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recognized testing laboratories.  Using Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL’s), OSHA and American National Standards Institute (ANSI)ensures that all products meet and or exceed the minimum requirements for safety.
Bullfrog International has chosen to use NRTL marks that support the UL and IEC specifications.  All Bullfrog Spas have been tested, certified, and safety listed with the TUVAmerica mark.  The important fact is that TUV laboratories support and enforce the same UL specifications and meet all requirements of the OSHA standards.  TUV performs periodic follow-up inspections to ensure compliance and quality.  The UL specification is well defined in the industry and all Bullfrog spas are 100% compliant with the UL specification. UL Specification vs. UL Listed Mark

The UL specification is independent of a vendor testing laboratory.  Consumers should not be confused with the UL specification and the UL listed Mark.  All Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL’s) use the UL specification in their certification and listing procedures.  Each testing laboratory offers differing levels of customer service, but each must be 100% compliant with the specifications outlined by OSHA and ANSI.

TUV vs. UL Listing Marks

As indicated above, there are a number of NRTL’s that support the UL specifications.  TUV additionally supports the IEC international standards.  Each testing organization must be 100% compliant with all regulatory guidelines and specifications of the UL specification.  Marks are listed by the respective Laboratory who has performed the compliance tests.  Regardless of the TUV listed mark or the UL listed mark, the same UL specification requirements have been met.  Each laboratory has been approved, monitored, and certified through OSHA.  The Marks represent the company who performed the UL specification testing. The addition of a “C” and “US” to the listing mark indicates complete compliance with Canadian and United States safety requirements.

Is any mark better than the other?

Yes and No.  The UL specification is the same, but TUV also conforms to the IEC standards in their testing.  The end result is that both the TUV and UL listed marks, in relation to the UL specification, are identical.
